Housing and Planning Act 2016 gets royal assent
June 28, 2016
The Housing and Planning Act 2016 received royal assent on 12 May, the last day of the 2015-16 Parliamentary session. As well as making various changes to planning and compulsory purchase law, it allows ‘an element of housing’ that is either near or functionally related to a nationally significant infrastructure project, to be included in a DCO application. This is likely to come into force in October, when draft guidance, published when the bill was introduced in Parliament, will also be finalised. That guidance limits the number of houses to 500 and the proximity test to one mile.
